The Ministry for National Security, led by Nilda Garré, will today begin recruiting for the ‘Neighbourhood Crime Prevention Body’, a new arm of the Federal Police that will carry out acts of “mediation and pacification” within the city of Buenos Aires.
According to the Ministry, “the Police division will be geared towards improving the quality of life of citizens and reducing levels of social conflict and violence in the most vulnerable neighbourhoods of the city”.
The Body will be made up of both male and female members of the Federal Police who will have to go through a pre-selection process before they receive the special training required for the job. The pre-selection process will assess their “attitude to the service of crime prevention, tolerance of differences, adaptability and interaction with the public, communication skills, teamwork, solidarity, and initiative and responsibility, amongst other capabilities”
The Body will be operational from early 2012.
